Comprehensive Plan Update Progress: 100%

May 19, 2020 City Council Planning Session

The Thornton City Council deferred consideration of the draft Comprehensive Plan rewrite at the October 8, 2019 Council Meeting to allow Council to review certain components of the Plan in more detail. The next step is to present additional information to Council at a Planning Session scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

Information on the Draft Comprehensive Plan Rewrite Discussion can be found as item ‘D’ in the May 19, 2020 Council Planning Session packet found on the city website at https://www.thorntonco.gov/government/city-council/Documents/planning-sessions/051920-Planning-Session-Packet-Link.pdf.

The Planning Session will be held virtually and will be open to the public, but it does not include a time for public presentation or comments. Instructions on how to listen into the Council Planning Session can be found on the city website https://www.thorntonco.gov/government/city-council/Pages/council-meetings.aspx. Recordings of the Planning Session may be requested from the Thornton City Clerk’s office at 303-538-7230.

It is anticipated that once Council has reviewed the most recent information at the Planning Session, additional details may be requested, possible changes made, and a date for the Public Hearing will be scheduled. Please note the Public Hearing will include a time for public comment.

Comp Plan Vote Postponed!

Last night, City Council decided to postpone consideration of the 2019 Comprehensive Plan until after the upcoming elections. However, the public and Council were able to give comments on the Plan thus far, and the project team will continue to take that feedback into consideration as the plan moves forward. A new date for a public hearing has not yet been scheduled, but this website will be updated regularly with the latest information.

Thank you to everyone that has participated in the planning process!
